FULL-DAY CERTIFICATE COURSE Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training

Vegetable farmers: get your Produce Safety Alliance (PSA/AFDO) certificate and learn how to develop your own farm food safety plan.

Join us at Pasa’s main office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for this comprehensive, seven-hour course on how to minimize the risk of foodborne illness as you grow, harvest, and store produce.

Produce Safety Alliance certified trainers

  • Lindsay Gilmour, Organic Planet LLC
  • Gary David Bloss, Pennsylvania Farmers Union
  • Kimberly Raikes, CAIC
  • Crystal Forman, CAIC

We’ll review Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), and Produce Safety Rule requirements. We’ll also cover worker health and hygiene; soil amendments; wildlife, domesticated animals, and land use; agricultural water (production water and post-harvest water); and post-harvest handling and sanitation.

In addition to the training, you’ll receive a workbook ($50 value) and be eligible to receive your Produce Safety Alliance certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials ($35 value) verifying your completion of food safety training. Please note: to receive the certificate, you must be present for the entire training and submit the appropriate paperwork to the trainer at the end of the course.

This course is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Farmers Union with funding provided by the Local Food Safety Collaborative (LFSC), a project funded by a cooperative agreement with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Additional support is provided by the Chesapeake Produce Safety Education Project, a project funded by the USDA NIFA Food Safety Outreach Program.
