Join us for a twilight tour of Plowshare Farms, a vegetable CSA and grass-fed livestock farm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Farmers Teddy and Faith Moynihan will share how they got started hosting on-farm dinners, and how these events have grown their community and business. They’ll also talk us through applying for and conducting a Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (NE SARE) research project to trial guinea fowl as a pest control method for Colorado potato beetle.
Plowshare has a total of 70 acres, including 14 acres of fenced pasture, 2 acres in vegetable production, and another 3 acres sublet to other vegetable farmers and apprentices. They’ll let us in on what the future holds for the farm, including plans to host an apprentice through Pasa’s Diversified Vegetable Apprenticeship. Bring all your your farm enterprise and research questions!
Did we mention there will be pie and ice cream? Eat your veggies beforehand, and come hungry for something sweet. We’ll end the night with a celebration of the coming summer solstice, sharing pie from the bakery at nearby Frecon Farms and ice cream.
