Teas. Tinctures. Syrups. Oils. Salves. Join us and farmer Michelle Soto at Cutting Root Farm & Apothecary to learn how to make these value-added herb products, which can extend the marketable life of the herbs you grow and diversify your farm’s offerings.
You’ll be able to taste many of the herbs Michelle shares, mix some products, and ask all of your value-added herb questions while experiencing what a value-added herb business venture could look like.
Speaker information
Michelle Soto’s dream for Cutting Root Farm & Apothecary is to match the plants she cultivates to the people who need them. That accessibility lies in growing hard-to-find medicinals, and providing private consultations and public herbal education.
To her, being an herbalist is a political statement. It means encouraging community wellbeing, challenging the status quo of health care, and building connections to the natural world. Michelle practices with the Stonefruit Community Herbalists in Pittsburgh, PA and the Stone Cabin Collective in Black Mesa, AZ.
Additional information
This is a CRAFT event. CRAFT (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training) events are designed for aspiring and beginning farmers, but can nonetheless provide valuable opportunities for experienced farmers to glean insights from their peers.
