This year, in light of the ongoing crisis in organic dairy, the NODPA Field Days program is all about providing practical education and useful strategies to help organic dairy producers weather the current organic dairy crisis, all the while maintaining organic integrity. We’ve built plenty of time into the program to hear from organic producers, and will have extensive facilitated discussions among them. There will be 2 farm tours, both grass-based organic dairy farms, Peace Hollow Farm, Knoxville, Maryland and Holterholm Farms, Jefferson, Maryland, and two days of workshops.The full program is online at www.nodpa.com. Mark Kastel, co-founder of the Cornucopia Institute, will be our keynote speaker on Thursday evening following the NODPA Annual Meeting and Banquet. His presentation, The Crisis in the Organic Dairy Movement: History, Analysis, and What Farmers Can Do to Balance the Playing Field will be followed by a town hall-style discussion to look at potential solutions to this crisis.
