About Sylvia

As a Soil Health Intern, Sylvia travels to various farms throughout Pennsylvania to collect and test soil and conduct water infiltration tests as part of Pasa’s Soil Health Benchmark Study.

Sylvia’s journey in the field of food systems began with farm-to-table-related experiences. She recently completed an internship at the Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education, where she gained hands-on experience with regenerative agriculture. During her service with AmeriCorps-National Civilian Community Corps, she worked on two small-scale organic farms as a farmhand. Her second year of service with AmeriCorps-Food Literacy Center was focused on educating low-income children in the Sacramento area about healthy food choices and inspiring them to eat their fruits and vegetables. In addition, Sylvia has two seasons of conservation experience as a Crew Leader for the Youth Conservation Corps with the USDA Forest Service. She is currently enrolled at Wilmington University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Policy. Sylvia appreciates that Pasa supports farmers and advocates for a healthier planet, and loves working as an intern because it allows her to integrate her interests in ecology, food systems, and people.

Sylvia lives in Lancaster with her partner and two cats. She enjoys cooking, hiking, gardening, as well as home-brewing kombucha and experimenting with new flavors!
