The Agriculture Field Assistant works with and reports to the Agriculture Program Director on day-to-day field operations and greenhouse production. They will work collaboratively with the Director of Agriculture Programs to assess needs, meet labor demands, and ensure the successful production of various crops. This position provides an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge, skills, and experience in diversified vegetable production.
Duties include:
• Field labor: planting, weeding, thinning, cultivating, harvesting, washing, packing
• Warehouse labor: washing bins and processing produce as needed
• Greenhouse propagation and maintenance
• Survey fields and greenhouses for pests and disease
• Work with volunteers
• Assist other staff with various projects and work-related errands as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• One year of farming or a background in gardening preferred
• Ability to lift 40+ pounds
• Basic Forklift Certification (provided by Food Bank)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Reliable personal transportation is required
• Position involves interactions with youth and requires the completion of a child abuse clearances as well as background check

Schedule:
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
