Century Manor Farm – Farm Manager
Century Manor Farm is a regenerative cattle farm in Livingston Manor, New York. Located on a historic farm site in the Western Catskills, this farm has stunning views, historic buildings, and access to nature. After many years of neglect, we are farming again on the land, and using regenerative practices to raise cattle and produce high quality grass-fed beef. We are looking for a full-time farm manager to run the operation. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about farming, has experience working with cattle, and is motivated to run a full-scale farming business.
The farm manager oversees all aspects of our cattle operation, including:
– Moving the herd through the pastures during the growing season
– Acquiring and feeding hay and other needed supplements through the winter
– Keeping up to date with tagging, vaccinating, and castrating calves
– Improving and maintaining current infrastructure including water and fence systems
– Using tractor/equipment onsite to accomplish needed tasks
– Arranging slaughter and processing with local meat processors
– Buying and selling cattle as needed
– Marketing and selling the beef
– Hiring and managing farm hands as needed
Infrastructure and herd:
– 100 acres of electric/woven fenced pasture, 250 additional acres of forest.
– Recently renovated Morton style barn with concrete floors in winter pasture.
– Two recently renovated historic barns.
– 50 hp tractor with necessary attachments including forks, bale spear, brush hog and more
– Summer running water to most of the pastures, winter running water by Morton barn
– One spring fed pasture
– A growing Belted Galloway herd of 40 head
Current Position Benefits:
– Full time, $55,000 salary with insurance stipend.
