About Princess

Princess works closely with underserved farmers and growers in Philadelphia to understand their needs and connect them with resources.

Princess is a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied ancient history and premedical sciences. Her love for agriculture, community outreach, and food justice always manifested themselves in her extracurriculars and work-study positions, including co-managing a campus greenhouse and developing mental health awareness workshops using gardening as a restorative outlet. As a sustainability fellow for Bartram’s Garden, she supported high school students in projects focused on farming, nutrition, food justice, and the African diaspora. During her work with Sankofa Community Farm, she was responsible for constructing and installing garden beds for their Home Garden Bed program, which promotes food sovereignty in southwest Philadelphia. After earning her bachelor’s degree, Princess joined the STEM program at Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School, where she developed a pilot agriculture curriculum featuring sustainability and plant biology, with a focus on food justice and food sovereignty. She has since facilitated similar programming for the youth program at Bodine Street Community Garden, helping young growers tend to their plots during the summer and fall seasons. Princess is also part of the southwest and west agricultural group working to enhance and support the community’s access to land, healthy food, and holistic healing.

Princess values the momentum and investment in supporting Philadelphia’s growers. These green spaces and communities have shaped her care for the land and nurtured her from youth to young adulthood. In them, she witnessed the power of sustainability, the significance of intergenerational learning, the acknowledgment of ancestry, and the recognition of original land ownership. Photographing cityscapes, birdwatching, and playing volleyball will always have first dibs in her free time!
