About Elaina

Elaina works closely with underserved farmers and growers in Pittsburgh to understand their needs and connect them with resources.

Currently, Elaina is an indoor mushroom farmer at Steel City Spore, specializing in urban agriculture. In addition to working with other farms, community gardens, and nonprofits on various projects, she also leads workshops and training courses on farming, foraging, and local forest ecosystems. As a passionate forager and nature enthusiast, her commitment to food system equity and sustainability are central aspects of her work. Pasa’s work in addressing barriers and promoting inclusivity in agriculture prompted Elaina to join the team.

Kayaking, hiking, and crocheting are some of Elaina’s hobbies. In their spare time, they also enjoy foraging and researching how to cultivate different species of mushrooms and plant life that are considered difficult or impossible to produce commercially.
