About Jess

Jess is responsible for reinvigorating Pasa’s volunteer and workshare programming to help more farmers and community members access and engage with Pasa’s mission.

Jess is rooted in the sociology of food systems. Her professional history includes working on farms and managing CSAs to running conferences, educating teens, and co-directing a small queer high school. As a consultant, Jess loves to facilitate connections, build programs, and provide sliding-scale food photography for small food businesses. She holds a master’s degree in food studies and is deeply passionate about human rights, grassroots mutual aid, and intersectional justice. Jess believes that farming connects us to our vitality and shared humanity—a throughline in her life and a community she has been part of since she first started farming in 2013. She is heartened by Pasa’s passion, breadth and intentionality.

When not out dancing, you can catch Jess drawing a weird infographic, organizing an obstacle course, or having a heart-to-heart with your local dog. They are also trialing an urban farming project via the power of Buy Nothing—wish her luck!
