Diversified Livestock Mid-Summer Pasture Walk

Walnut Hill Farm
Walnut Hill, 4965 Saranac Drive, Sharpsville, PA
Wednesday, July 12

Walnut Hill Farm is a grass-based, sustainable/regenerative farm in scenic Mercer county raising grass fed & finished Black Angus Beef, Dorset-mix lambs, pastured poultry, laying hens & silvopastured pork. They use no pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, growth hormones or GMOs. Ever. All on pasture---all the time!
Walnut Hill sells quality product directly through their on-farm stand as well as retail outlets and restaurants. Farm owner Mike Kovach will lead a pasture walk and an interactive discussion about their management methods and what makes their operation successful. PASA's Franklin Egan will also lead a discussion on farm recordkeeping and show how ordinary sales and management records can be used to calculate a farm's "ecological footprint" and tell a compelling story about how many families pastured-livestock farms can feed.
This event is a partnership effort between the PA Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) and the PA Grazing Lands Coalition (PA GLC); it will be held rain or shine, so please be prepared for an outdoor setting. The PA GLC will host lunch at a DiLorenzo's Specialty Deli & Bakery after the pasture walk and will hold its quarterly business meeting (open to the public) after the meal.
PLEASE RSVP to Susan Richards at: by Friday, June 30, 2017 so that we have an accurate head count. There is no charge for the event, but pre-registration is required. Donations will be accepted from those attending lunch.
