Event Description
With the heat of summer setting in and crops growing every day there are two things they need to keep of their production - water and nutrients. Regardless of your scale, irrigation and fertigation are great ways to keep your crops healthy and producing at full strength.

Join PASA and Dave King of Harvest Valley Farms for a twilight tour of their production fields and high tunnels to hear about how they utilize overhead and drip irrigation and fertigation from wells, ponds, and municipal sources to get the most from their crops.
Speaker Information
Dave King, Harvest Valley Farms:
In 2005, David King, graduated from college and joined his father Art and uncle Larry at Harvest Valley Farms. The farm is now owned and operated by Larry, Art, and David King. Art, Larry, and David have found that building the soil structure by the use of green manure, organic material amendments, wet lime, crop rotation, heavy mulching, and less tillage, can reduce pesticide and fertilizer use by about 60 percent. In addition to proper soil maintenance, HVF believes that overall diversity and local sales are extremely important in order to sustain a good community economy.

Art King, Harvest Valley Farms:
Since joining his brother Larry in the family’s farm business in 1992, Art King has helped Harvest Valley Farm develop a direct marketing network of farmer to consumer, farmer to chef, and farmer to community relationships. Going a step beyond to meet its customers’ needs has been Harvest Valley Farm’s greatest asset to its community!
