Event Description
Join PASA and farmer Don Kretschmann of Kretschmann Organic Farm in Rochester, PA, for a three-hour field day with Ohio-based innovators from Tilmor, a third generation equipment manufacturer focusing on implements designed and build to support the needs of small-scale farmers.

The family behind Tilmor has a long history of small-scale agriculture and a first-hand understanding of how difficult it can be to find US made equipment that suits small to mid sized farms, specifically underbelly cultivators that work with ACG, Farmall, and Kubota L245.

In-field demonstrations of various tools will be accompanied by an overview of the tools, themselves: how they work, and how to adjust, build, and switch them on a tractor. A summary of benefits and versatility of various implements, and a general q-and-a roundtable for farmers to give feedback and impressions to the Tilmor team, will round out the day.
Registration will be open until 5/6/2018 at noon.
Speaker Information
About Tilmor: We are a fourth-generation family farm (certified organic since 2006), and we also have more than 50 years of experience designing and manufacturing turf and agricultural equipment. While operating the farm, we needed reliable, appropriately-sized, affordable tools and equipment for our smaller acreage—and we couldn’t get them. Agricultural equipment manufacturers were focused on large, industrial farms, and we were left with purchasing and trying to maintain older equipment. We realized that other farmers like us must be having the same challenges—and Tilmor was born.

About Don Kretschmann: Don was one of the first organic growers in Western PA. After spending several years renting farms east of Pittsburgh, Don and his wife Becky moved their growing young family to near Zelienople in 1979, purchasing a farm which had been used for dairy cows. One of the attractions of the the farm was that it was obvious that previous farmers had taken care to rotate crops and return valuable manures to the land. We've continued and enhanced these time-tried methods through innovative, organic, environmentally-friendly, sustainable agriculture practices while raising three daughters.
