Event Description
Join Lloyd and Alex Traven of Peace Tree Farm to explore the topic of advanced biological controls. Peace Tree Farm will give a tour of their greenhouse highlighting their use of biocontrols to manage pests. Suzanne Wainwright of Bug Lady Consulting will speak to her extensive experience with biological controls in her over 15 years of horticultural and entomological consulting widely throughout the country and internationally. Additionally, Doug Barrow from Biobest USA, will speak to biocontrols in greenhouse vegetable production. This event will be an opportunity to understand how biocontrols require a different mindset and skillset than conventional pest control, and how these mindsets are essential to a successful program.
Registration will be open from 08/05/2016 to 10/20/2016 at noon.
Speaker Information
Lloyd Traven - Peace Tree Farm

Alex Traven is head grower at his family's state-of-the-art eco-conscious greenhouse operation Peace Tree Farm. After graduating from Cornell University in 2012 he worked in cut flower and organic vegetable production before returning to Peace Tree Farm in 2014. He is now fully immersed in the world of biological controls and helping to advance the business towards environmental sustainability and the cutting edge of agriculture.

Doug Barrow - BioBest

Suzanne Wainright-Evans is an Ornamental Entomologist specializing in integrated pest management. Suzanne has been involved in the Green Industry for more than 18 years with a primary focus on biological control and using pesticides properly. She is a graduate of the University of Florida with degrees in both Entomology and Environmental Horticulture. She has worked throughout the United States and internationally consulting to greenhouses, nurseries, landscapers and interiorscape companies. Additionally Suzanne is frequently published in trade magazines, teaches workshops and lectures professionally to industry groups. Her lectures use her extensive library of insect photos and macro insect movies. She has been a repeat guest on Martha Stewart Living Radio as well as appeared on Growing a Greener World on PBS. She is the owner of Buglady Consulting, now in business 13 years. Suzanne lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, 2 dogs and 7 cats in a log home built in the 1820's.

Yes! Walk-ins are welcome. Cash and check are accepted on site. Please note that lunches cannot be guaranteed for walk-ins. Call (215) 804-4731 for more information.
