On-Farm Workshop A Primer on Overhead & Drip Irrigation Systems

See irrigation systems in action while you learn about the water needs of different crops, soils, terrains, and scales.

Proper irrigation is an essential part of most diversified vegetable operations, but what system is the best fit for your farm? Join the team at The Good Farm in Lehigh County for a tour and discussion of the irrigation strategies they use on their typically well-drained fields.

Topics covered include:

  • pros and cons of overhead and drip systems
  • deciding how to irrigate specific crops to accommodate their unique water needs
  • managing irrigation for transplanted crops versus direct-seeded beds
