Two-wheel, walk-behind tractors have become a powerful tool of choice for many small scale growers! Join us at The Seed Farm in Lehigh County where Pasa’s Pre-Apprenticeship Manager Lisa Miskelly and Farmer Dean Buttacavoli of Cabbage Throw Farm will discuss and demonstrate the uses, basic maintenance, and safe operation of this versatile tool.
We’ll review attachments including the flail mower, rotary plow, rototiller, and sickle bar. Then it’s your turn! You’ll get ample opportunity for supervised hands-on practice. Dean uses a two-wheel tractor as an integral part of his minimum tillage operation at Cabbage Throw Farm, a Certified Organic 1.5 acre market garden located in NJ’s fertile Musconetcong River Valley.
This event is being held in partnership with The Seed Farm and with funding from AgConnect, an initiative of the Chester County Economic Development Council supported by the private sector and grant funds received from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. Registrants will be asked to complete brief paperwork including SSN at the beginning of the workshop and fill out an evaluation form at the end to fulfill Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry grant requirements.
