The Start-Up Farm: Year 4

September 10, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Photo: Old Tin Roof Farm

The first years of operating a new farm business are always difficult. With so many decisions to make, so many costs to bear, and so many lessons to learn, start-up farmers may wonder if there will ever come a day when they won’t feel so overwhelmed…

It’s helpful to know that this experience is not unique to you and your operation—that you’ve joined the ranks of many others who’ve undergone trials and tribulations that parallel your own. Join us at Old Tin Roof Farm where second-career farmers Steve and Olga Nonn will share their farming journey during their first four years of operation, including how they’ve dealt with challenges like growing on sloped terrain and how they’ve worked to scale up production.

Steve and Olga Nonn, Old Tin Roof Farm: After spending 25+ years in the corporate world Steve and Olga rekindled their love for growing fresh, wholesome food and established Old Tin Roof Farm on land that has been in their family since 1932. They produce vegetables, flowers, berries, and herbs, and specialize in growing varieties of garlic.
