COVID-19 note: All in-person events are tentative depending on public health guidelines moving forward.
During this workshop and forest walk, Dr. Eric Burkhart from Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center will discuss one of Pennsylvania’s most valuable woodland crops: goldenseal. He will also review forest crop tree management and silviculture, including how to manipulate the forest canopy to promote goldenseal crops and salvage trees killed by invasive insects, such as the Emerald Ash Borer.
This event will consist of an indoor morning presentation at Lundale Farm near Pottstown, Pennsylvania, followed by an afternoon forest walk on nearby forestlands.
This is the second workshop in a two-part series promoting forest farming in the Mid-Atlantic region. Check out the second workshop in this series on ginseng.
