The company has been family-owned since its inception in 1995.

Sun Aqua’s hydroponically- grown basil is grown on site from seed to harvest and is 100% GMO-Free. The company uses alternative pest control methods and maintains strict standards so that every shipment is of the highest quality.

The basil is harvested to order by hand and can be delivered to customers within 24 hours or less of being harvested. Their basil can be found in grocery markets all over the northeastern United States 52 weeks of the year.

Sun Aqua grows basil hydroponically at the following two locations near Scranton:

The fresh basil is distributed through leading supermarket chains and independent grocers.
The basil is harvested by skilled workers and placed in fully recyclable printed plastic sleeves with its roots kept intact. A small amount of water is added to the package to keep the plant living and at its peak freshness. The company believes their product has superior aroma and taste to any other basil on the market. They also believe the quality of the product is what sets them apart. Sun Aqua only harvests the best plants of the proper size, and would rather lose a crop than send out any plant that does not meet their high standards.

• Pennsylvania
