JOB SUMMARY:

Delaware Valley University invites applications for a full‑time, nine‑month, non‑tenure track position in Crop Science and Sustainable Agriculture within the Plant Science and Landscape Architecture Department, beginning Fall 2026. Appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate education through high‑quality teaching, experiential learning, curriculum development, and service activities that support the Department’s mission and vision.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Strong knowledge of:

• Sustainable crop production
• Soil conservation and soil health
• Animal feed and forage production
• Farm waste management
• Agricultural building, machinery, and farming practices

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in crop science and sustainable agriculture, with an emphasis on crop production and soil health. Course assignments may include, but are not limited to:

• Fall Semester:
  • Field Crops II
  • Feed Grains and Forages
  • Pasture‑Based Livestock Management
  • Organic Food and Fiber
• Spring Semester:
  • Field Crops I
  • Principles of Sustainable Agriculture
  • Agricultural Machinery (alternates with Agricultural Building)
• Summer (Optional):
  • Farm Skills and Knowledge
  • Soil Health Management

Instruction is expected to integrate lectures, laboratories, and experiential learning activities appropriate to the discipline.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to teaching, the faculty member will be expected to:

• Collaborate with faculty colleagues to design and implement curricular updates aligned with departmental goals and both traditional and non‑traditional agricultural production practices
• Teach at various levels within the discipline, as assigned
• Recruit, advise, and mentor students as needed
• Post and maintain regular office hours
• Remain current in the field through professional development and scholarly activity
• Serve on faculty committees as assigned or elected
• Attend faculty meetings, department meetings, and other required meetings
• Assist with departmental needs and development, including outcomes assessment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in agronomy or a closely related field required
• Demonstrated experience teaching college‑level lectures and laboratories with experiential learning components
• Farm or applied agricultural experience preferred

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentoring
• Ongoing commitment to faculty development and scholarship
• Evidence of successful scholarly or professional activity
