At The Old Road Farm we work with the land and each other using organic practices and regenerative principles to produce delicious, nutritious food that is good for you, the community, and our planet. We are looking to grow our team! Positions open now.

Immediately looking for: 1-2 people, 10-20 hours a week
Longer Term looking for: 2 people 20-40 hours/week and additionally 1-2 people 5-15 hours/week.

Ideal applicant is a fast learner, a creative thinker, able to lead and to follow, willing to work outdoors in all weather, and cares about the connection between health of land, animal, individual and community.

Successful applicant will be:

• Responsible
• Reliable
• A confident communicator
• Capable of carrying 75lbs (a full Milker bucket)
• Capable of lifting, moving, pushing, pulling at least 50lbs
• Capable of safely moving under and over obstacles, walking on uneven terrain, slippery terrain, etc
• Willing to adapt and change (daily agenda, expectations, operating procedures)
• Willing and able to work in very cold and very warm temperatures, including with rain and snow
• Comfortable around large animals
• Possessing a driver’s license
• Able to work in a family environment as an essential part of a small team
• Excited to be a part of ethical food production for our community.

At the moment we are looking to do a few things:

1. get some extra hands on the farm to help with fall projects and fall cleanup
2. replace current labor for certain essential but less “farmy” jobs like bottling milk, cleaning the farm store, packaging eggs
3. replace current labor on some daily activities to create opportunity for current staff to work on other projects and have more down time
4. long term, current staff is leaving 10/31 and so we’ll be a whole new team!

The above could be fulfilled by 1-5 different people depending on skills, interest and availability. (E.g. it would be possible to have somebody who just comes four days a week to bottle milk). Long term, I need at least two people able to be trained in “all the things” from milking cows to collecting eggs.  Those positions have the possibility of working 30+ hours/week and could include onsite housing.

There really are several different ways our team could grow and change for this next season of the Farm.  We’ve been so blessed with talented, wonderful staff over the years; I’m excited to find out who will next be joining the farm-ily and what the next chapter holds.
