Farm Assistant (March – November, 30-35 hrs/week, $20-23/hr)

The Farm Assistant supports Oasis Farm’s vegetable production, food access, land care, and community engagement work in Homewood. We are seeking an experienced, collaborative team member who is an avid grower, models good practices, and supports others. The Farm Assistant works closely with the Farm Manager to grow fresh food, maintain farm infrastructure, harvest and pack produce for the Homewood Farmers Market and Bible Center Church programs, and support youth and community programs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Farm Production & Maintenance (50%)
    • Complete routine farm tasks, including seedling care, transplanting, weeding, irrigation, land care, pest management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling
    • Maintain farm infrastructure, tools, equipment, growing areas, and outdoor learning spaces
    • Assist with community Farmers Markets (June – October), donations, and deliveries
  • Team Collaboration & Support (25%)
    • Model effective farm practices and positive work habits while working alongside farm crew and volunteers
    • Provide instruction, answer questions, check work, and give constructive feedback
    • Support volunteer workdays and ongoing volunteer activities
  • Community Engagement & Programs (15%)
    • Support youth and community programs (Field2Fork, summer camp, workshops, events)
    • Build positive relationships with community members, volunteers, and partners
    • Assist with program coordination, events, and facilitation as needed
  • Additional Responsibilities (10%)
    • Participate in meetings and trainings
    • Complete tasks and paperwork within deadlines
    • Contribute as active member of Bible Center Church team
    • Other duties based on experience and interest
