Red Hill Farm is currently hiring a full-time farmer for the 2023 season beginning in April and ending in November. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with some weekend watering duties included, although the farm crew shares these responsibilities throughout the entire season. As a farmer at Red Hill Farm, you will be involved in all aspects of farm life from seeding in the greenhouse, planting, cultivating, irrigating, pest management, harvesting, cleaning and packaging produce, and working in the share room during community supported agriculture (CSA) members’ pick up days. You will work with a friendly team of farmers. We expect all farmers to respect one another, work together to complete tasks, and be dedicated to the success of Red Hill Farm. Employment at the farm includes five paid vacation days, and a weekly share of organic, seasonal produce.
While previous farm experience or vegetable gardening is preferred, someone who is enthusiastic, hardworking, and dedicated is still encouraged to apply for the position. Compensation will be determined by your prior agriculture experiences. To be considered for this position, one must have a valid driver’s license as well as successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen. If you’re interested in this position, please send your resume to hr@osfphila.org. After reviewing your resume, you’ll be contacted to coordinate a time for a two-step interview process. The first interview will be a traditional-style interview located at the farm to ask questions and get to know one another. If this interview is successful, then you’ll be asked to return to the farm for an introductory work day with the team in order to ensure you have a full understanding of the job. This may entail weeding, planting, or whatever is necessary to accomplish that particular day. It’s important for everyone to feel content about continuing with the recruitment process.
