Position Overview
The Farm Manager at York Fresh Food Farm oversees daily field, high tunnel, and greenhouse operations while supporting the mission to increase access to healthy food. This hands-on role combines crop production, staff leadership, community engagement, and operational management in a public-facing nonprofit environment.

The ideal candidate is approachable, organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing farm work with community interaction and leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Farm Operations
  • Plan and oversee crop production including planting, cultivation, harvesting, greenhouse seeding, irrigation, pest management, composting, and post-harvest handling
  • Develop annual crop plans, planting schedules, rotations, and seed/transplant orders
  • Monitor crop health and forecast harvests to meet market, donation, and sales commitments
  • Maintain accurate farm records including yields, planting plans, and pesticide applications
  • Implement food safety, sanitation, and safety procedures
• Facilities & Equipment
  • Maintain farm buildings, tools, irrigation systems, vehicles, and equipment
  • Perform basic maintenance and ensure farm facilities are organized and operational daily
• Staff & Volunteer Leadership
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise seasonal staff and volunteers
  • Lead volunteer groups and educational farm programs, workshops, and tours
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment
• General
  • Attend meetings, support organization events, and assist with additional operational needs as assigned

Schedule: This is a full-time, exempt, field-based position requiring flexibility, including weekends and occasional evenings, based on seasonal farming demands.

Qualifications: 2–4 year degree in agriculture or related field, or equivalent vegetable production experience
