Kimberton CSA is a 10-acre, certified organic and biodynamic, mixed vegetable production farm. We are located in Chester County, approximately 30 miles northwest of Philadelphia and three miles west of Phoenixville.

The Crew Leader will support the CSA Manager and Field Manager in their daily tasks running Kimberton CSA’s mixed vegetable production farm. This includes, but is not limited to, leading the crew and setting the pace in sowing, transplanting, cultivation and harvest activities; using the walk behind tractor to prepare greenhouses for transplanting and direct sowing; and, operating tractors and other farm machinery during field work operations. Training will be provided where applicable.

In addition, the Crew Leader will organize and delegate work tasks efficiently and supervise and train the work crew to meet the farm’s quality control standards in the managers’ absence.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist with production on a small scale, diversified biodynamic vegetable farm
Use BCS tractor to help prepare greenhouses for transplanting and direct sowing
Operate tractors, implements and other farm machinery
Organize and supervise the work crew in the managers’ absence
Direct and work with volunteers and workshares on the farm
Engage politely with members when necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old
Two full seasons working on a diversified vegetable, production farm (preferred)
Capable of lifting 50lbs and working in adverse weather conditions
Valid driver’s license

Skills/Attributes:

Highly motivated, efficient, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and the ability to interact well with both staff and customers
Able to work in a physically demanding environment, modeling endurance and a positive attitude
Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Able to work well with diverse groups of people

Hours: Expected to work on average 40hrs/week over the season, maximum six days/week
