Provisions Magazine (provisionsmag.com) is a new quarterly print magazine featuring the stories of the food and farming community in Pennsylvania. Based in State College, PA, we seek to connect communities across the state through our online and print articles, and believe in the power of well-crafted stories to change how we think about food.
Provisions Magazine is seeking a self-motivated, energetic advertising sales professional who has a passion for the print industry and the persistence needed to get the attention of decision makers in the Pennsylvania food and farming community. The ideal candidate will have a background in media sales or marketing. This part-time position would be largely remote. Employee requirements: media or marketing background, sound prospecting abilities, knowledge of food businesses, ability to plan ahead for multiple deadlines and capacity to work under pressure.
You will succeed by:
-Developing new sales leads to grow an existing market
-Maintaining relationships and favorable contacts with current and potential advertising accounts
-Building relationships through sales calls, customer service calls, and site visits
-Presenting advertising options to generate new business
-Supporting existing clients while generating new business
Our Ideal Candidate:
-Loves meeting with restaurant owners, producers and other entities in the food industry
-Is a self-motivated sales or marketing professional with experience and contacts in the food industry. -Strengths include presentation skills, business development, negotiation, and revenue generation.
-Can manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract signing, build rapport quickly, make daily sales calls, and utilize excellent follow-up and organizational skills.
-Can work independently and attend monthly meetings with the Provisions team to ensure seamless implementation of clients’ advertising campaigns.
-Is outgoing and fun, organized and proactive, and cares deeply about the food they eat.
Laptop and smartphone necessary. Promotional plans, sales literature, media kits, sales contracts, and all other sales tools will be provided. Some travel may be necessary as we expand across the state, though email and phone will be your main means of communication.
This position is part-time, commission-based (actual percentage based on experience but in the 15-20% range), with the opportunity for further development as this startup company grows, with your help!
