About Heidi

Heidi Witmer is the founder and Executive Director of the LEAF Project, which cultivates youth leaders from diverse backgrounds through meaningful work in the food system. Heidi brings a strong background in regenerative agriculture, community development, and education.

Growing up in a farming family, Heidi has always kept her hands in the dirt and managed both educational and production vegetable farms before starting her own vegetable farm business. Heidi also brings 10 years experience in the youth development field, including working as an instructor in a wilderness-based therapeutic program, teaching in a traditional classroom, and becoming the head administrator at an all-girls private school. Heidi received her B.A. from Haverford College with a major in Religious Studies and Peace Studies. She apprenticed as a grower under Eric Larson, Manager of Yale University’s Marsh Botanical Gardens.

Heidi is honored to serve on the Pasa board alongside talented farmers and food system professionals tackling the pressing issues of farm viability and farming in a changing climate.
