This professional workshop will include three case studies by existing market founders and managers. Janet Chrzan from the Oakmont Market, Lynn Prior and Megan McBride from the Easton Market, and Liz Andersen from the Phoenixville Market will present what tools and techniques have worked for them in creating successful markets.

CPA Louise Schorn Smith will share a financial template for managing market budgets and Gene Gantz from PDA/USDA, will present a brief overview of risk management options relevant to farmers' markets.

Over a lunch catered by the Whole Foods Market in Devon, Bob Pierson of Farm to City and Penn State Coop Extension will be presenting highlights from a recent study of farmers' markets in PA. One of the chief recommendations from survey participants is for the creation of an umbrella organization or alliance of farmers' markets. Mr. Pierson would like to connect with any attendees who are interested in the formation of such a group.

Don't miss this excellent opportunity to share resources and learn from the pros before the 2008 farmers' market season begins!
