From the Lehigh Valley and Berks County
The Rodale Institute Experimental Farm is easy to locate. There are two main roads to travel to reach our farm:

1) If you are traveling Route 222, we are one mile west of Maxatawny, or five miles east of Kutztown. Look for a blue-and-white road sign for our facility and turn north on Grim Road. Follow Grim Road to Siegfriedale Road, where you turn left. The Institute is 1/2 mile ahead. Your tour will begin at the Book Store, which is in the historic Siegfriedale Schoolhouse.

2) If you are traveling Interstate 78, take Exit 45 (New Smithville) and pick up Route 863 South. Follow 863 South for 1/2 mile to a three-way intersection, where you take the middle fork - Siegfriedale Road. Follow Siegfriedale Road for 2 miles until you come to a brick one-room schoolhouse. That is our bookstore. The main office is the white, clapboard-covered house on the right side of the road, approximately 1/4 mile west of the bookstore.

From Philadelphia
The easiest way is to take the Northeast Extension of the Pa. Turnpike, to the Allentown exit. Pick up Interstate 78 West (short distance past the toll booth) and proceed to Exit 45 (New Smithville), following #2 above to reach the Institute.

From New Jersey and New York
Take Interstate 80 to Interstate 287 South. Follow 287S to Interstate 78 West, then follow the direction listed in the Philadelphia section, beginning with sentence two. Your tour will begin at the Institute's book store.

From Harrisburg and West
Take Interstate 78 East to Exit 45 (New Smithville). (Then follow the Lehigh Valley directions above.)

From New England
(Directions from New York will work, but if you're heading South on Interstate 81, follow these) Take Interstate 81 South to the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike. Follow the turnpike to the Allentown Exit (Interstate 78). Take Interstate 78 West. (Then follow the Lehigh Valley directions above.)

From Washington D.C. and Baltimore
Take Interstate 83 North to Interstate 81 North. Pick up Interstate 78 East to Exit 45. (Then follow the Lehigh Valley directions above.)
