Grass-fed, Grass-finished Beef Challenge Cook-Off
Date: Sunday,
August 3
Time: 1pm – 4pm
Location: Glasbern
Inn, Fogelsville, Lehigh County
At the time of printing, this event is sponsored by the Glasbern
Inn, The Fertrell Company, King’s AgriSeed and the Leona Meat
Plant.
Come spend the afternoon with some of PASA's best grass-fed, grass-finished
beef producers. Sample grilled grass-fed burgers and beer braised
beef stew, buy a mug of Stoudts Brewery local craft beer, and groove
to live music provided by PASA board vice president and farmer Brian
Moyer, along with his friends The Brintton Brothers. Informative
poster displays will detail each of the grazing operations participating
in the competition, and presentations on the pasture-based farm
at Glasbern will be available. Farmer contestants will be on hand
to discuss their pasture management, grazing methods, breeding and
breed selection, butchering and marketing. And there will be a fun
raffle for grass-fed steaks and other goodies!
This Beef Challenge Cook Off provides farmers a chance to share
proven methods and growing techniques and enjoy sampling tasty,
professionally prepared beef. Grilled steaks will be judged by a
panel of professional chefs, food writers and passionate eaters
who will award prizes for "best in class." Contestants
will be showcased at the event and the winners will be announced
in PASA Passages newsletter.
