SEEKING FARM OPPORTUNITY - I am 23 and would like to spend a year or two doing some sustainable food growing. I am ready for gardening jobs, lots of digging, planting, or picking, building with wood and natural materials, learning about soil, compost, and grey water, working with animals on a no-kill basis and enjoying the company of other friendly animals. I would like to work somewhere for at least one month but hopefully find somewhere I can work for up to a year. APPRENTICESHIPS - Spoutwood Farm Center, Inc., a community-supported agriculture and educational farm in Glen Rock, PA (southern York County), still has one and possibly two apprenticeships openings available for the remainder of the 2008 season (current thru November). Apprenticeships include a small stipend plus free vegetables; lodgings may be available. Apprentices are typically college grads or equivalent, who desire a full-immersion experience in sustainable agriculture/natural farming. We also have an unlimited number of openings for interns: interns do not receive a stipend but may receive college credit if desired, and may work shorter blocks of time if desired. WANTED – Farm Manager & Intern - I am looking for a mature person or couple experienced in natural farming, who is interested in sharing farm operations and profits on a small organic orchard and berry farm in the mountains of North Carolina. OPPORTUNITY SOUGHT - Couple with two-year-old daughter seeking experience in sustainable agriculture. Currently in Philadelphia area but willing to relocate (housing needed). We are interested in all aspects of sustainable agriculture, integrated systems that include animals and produce, composting, cover cropping, agroforestry, alternative energy and permaculture.
